LONG ISLAND CITY, NY – Sept. 18, 2013 – The Friends of Steinway Mansion today announced the Steinway Mansion Music Fest as the inaugural program of its national fundraising effort to purchase, restore and open the Steinway Mansion for public use. The Steinway Mansion Music Fest will bring together a series of local bands and venues to raise awareness and funds for the group’s mission.
The Dru Cutler and The Heart & Hand Band will headline the first event at SingleCut Beersmiths (19-33 37th St, Astoria) on Saturday Sept. 28 at 8:00pm. A launch rally will be held at SingleCut at 6:00pm. All are welcome. The event is free to the public and donations will be accepted to benefit the Friends of Steinway Mansion.
“Using music to raise awareness for the plight of the Steinway Mansion was frankly a no-brainer,” said Bob Singleton, executive director, Greater Astoria Historical Society. “The Steinway’s revolutionized modern music and modern New York. The Steinway Mansion Music Fest pays homage to both legacies and appropriately launches our fundraising effort to save the Mansion.”

As part of their diverse strategy, The Friends of Steinway Mansion is also reaching out to the New York arts community, local residents and businesses, politicians and corporations.
Future Music Fest performances will be hosted at venues throughout Astoria, Long Island City culminating in the Friends of Steinway Mansion First Annual Gala.
